Welcome to Calming Park – Your Journey to Tranquility

In a noisy world where a new awareness is arising, scented candles have become cherished companions in our most fulfilling and luxurious quest: stillness and calm. Today, perfumes are integral to our global well-being, finding new roles in smell therapy, music therapy, forest bathing, and even in the emerging trend of sleep tourism in hospitality. These innovative uses underscore the essential nature of scents in our lives.

Calming Park was conceived in 2000 with the release of its namesake music compilation by Universal Music, curated by Olivier Rohrbach, a Swiss music designer and “synesthete par excellence”. Olivier, also a journalist, sound designer, and photographer, envisioned a world enriched by harmonious fragrances. In 2006, as he prepared to release the fifth volume of Calming Park, Olivier dreamed of creating a scented candle that would capture the essence of the Nevada landscapes depicted on the album artwork. During a warm summer in southern France, while working on an article, Olivier visited Grasse and met Marie Duchêne, a skilled parfumeur. Together, they brought his dream to life. “Sprinkling the world with delicate scents that please rather than flooding it with multiple fragrances” remains Olivier Rohrbach’s guiding principle, as the founder of Calming Park.

Calming Park has proudly collaborated with prestigious brands such as H&M Home, Omega, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Rocco Forte Hôtels, Yoox Net-A-Porter Group, singer Melody Gardot, TOD’S, and most recently, with Italian ceramics brand Fornice Objets and Mandarin Oriental Savoy Zurich. While external objects like scents are ephemeral, internal experiences such as our emotions and memories are everlasting. By blending refined design with advanced olfactory experiences, Calming Park creates candles with a minimalist aesthetic and a 12% perfume concentration.

Through my work as a journalist, I had the opportunity to meet many talented musicians and to ask them this question: How do you relax?

These are the answers of some of them, whom I particularly admire.

"By taking long baths and burning scented candles!"

— Melody Gardot

"Cooking relax me and I love spending time in Parc Laurier near my home in Montreal."

— Charlotte Cardin

"I don't relax! Once a week, I treat myself to an hour just for me, and at my own pace that's almost a lot! I go to my therapist and that relaxes me."

— Marco Mengoni

"I rarely sleep more than 5 hours a night, that's just the way it is when you have a lot to do... But when you enjoy your work it's different, it's almost like relaxing. But when I want to rest, I do nothing, absolutely nothing."

— SebastiAn

"When we are on tour, we have our rituals to keep us balanced. These include group breath work, meditation and ice baths after shows. And even when we‘re back home, we continue these fitness and wellness programs."

— Rüfüs Du Sol

"I like to meditate, do breathing exercises and go for walks in the park. I pay a lot of attention to my sleep, because that‘s the best way to clear my head. I even measure and check my sleep quality. I sleep really well on the tour bus. At home it‘s much more chaotic with the kids!"

— José González

"By reading or writing new songs."

— Nile Rodgers

"Making the top of my dining table my own beach is as much fun and effective as I ever thought it would be. I enjoy the afternoon sun, which is quite strong, even in autumn in Brazil. It's a form of relaxation that I love."

— Bebel Gilberto

"I am laid-back by nature, perhaps because my father was a priest before he started a family. I am very focused on well-being and have a great passion for spirituality, and continue to read books by Buddhist monks and others... In the morning, I get up early and do yoga, I try to integrate well-being into my daily life as much as possible."

— Louis-Jean Cormier

"I have a little house in the forest by the river, where I live with my dog. It's a place I've known for a long time because I used to come there to play and spend my holidays when I was a child. It's always been a place I've loved and being able to live here reassures me and reminds me of who I am!"

— Fishbach

"Walking in nature and doing meditation."

— Ane brun

"New Orleans is where my heart is and also my beautiful little house, as a very dear friend of mine has just moved there... It's where I spend my time, it's a very inspiring and relaxing place for me."

— Jake Shears

"I meditate. I eat and I meditate. I walk and I meditate. I talk and I meditate. Meditativeness makes my life healthier. It is an intrinsic value in my life. Sometimes I do yoga, but not in a ritualistic way."

— Yoko Ono
